9th of May – En Route to Santo Domingo

9th of May – En Route to Santo Domingo

Today was a very pleasant walk, about 22 kilometers, but again I covered it surprisingly quickly, I planned to arrive at about 4 o’clock but actually got here at about 3. The walk was not too physically challenging, across rolling hills of vineyards and fields of barley and wheat.

10th of May – Down to Belorado

10th of May – Down to Belorado

This morning was a different start, because I was able to have a nice breakfast in the parador in which I had been staying. But it didn’t feel the same, because I was in a dining room full of aging American pilgrims who seem to be doing the Camino via bus.

Across the Meseta - Castrojeriz to Fromista The start of the days walk was up a fairy steep hill onto the Meseta with a great view back over Castrojeriz. Leaving Castrojeriz   Looking back over Castrojeriz   Pilgrims along the Way - Sarah and Chris  ...

18th of May – Almost Halfway to Santiago

18th of May – Almost Halfway to Santiago

The walk today will be a bit of a challenge for many reasons. It’s almost 27 kilometers and I’m finding my comfortable distance is 20-22 kilometers so I know I’ll be pushing the last section. Also the weather forecast is for 28 degrees, and a very high probability of rain. And to add to that, this is the section where the first village and water stop is 17 kilometers.
