So, having got our first Camino completed before heading off to Muxia, we spent some time in the cathedral, went down into the crypt, walked up and hugged the Apostle and all the things that we do. And then it was time to walk down to the bus station to catch the bus to Muxia. This was a Monbus, which we had booked online. I have to say the online booking system is quite confusing…
So, this is the first day of our second Camino of this trip setting out from Muxia. I had warned Pat that there was a fairly steep hill coming out of Muxia. So we enjoyed the walk along the coast and there’s that big new Parador up on the hill overlooking the coast. And then again, it wasn’t quite as I remembered. I’m sure that the route has been rerouted a bit…
So, this was our second day on Muxia to Fisterra to Santiago Camino. We found this wonderful donativo. I wasn’t sure what it was. I asked someone in the street, “Is this a bar?” And he said, “No, no, it’s a donativo.” We popped in there for a drink and some wonderful homemade wax stamps in our pilgrim passports…
So today was a short day, just 11 kms from Fisterra to Corcubion. . I think we actually got up at about 8:00, had breakfast about 9, popped into a pharmacy to pick up some more painkillers for my back and then finally we were on our way at about 10:00. And we felt there was no rush, the forecast was for cooler weather and overcast. Hmm…the forecast wasn’t quite right. It got fairly warm…
So, today was a 17.8 kilometer day from Corcubion to O Logoso. We started off early because for us it was going to be quite a long day. There was a few hills involved and we wanted to try and get to O Logoso in time for lunch. So, we started off in the dark through Corcubion, through Cee and then I seem to recall from my last time on this route that then was a very steep hill coming up from Cee and indeed there was…
Another relatively short day for us with 16 1/2 k’s but a big sodding hill right in the middle of it. So, we started off from O Logoso again pre-dawn. Then took on the hill which was again very steep but very short. I was having a few flashbacks because this was the hill three years ago where I injured my legs…
So, our penultimate day coming back into Santiago. So, we started off from Casa Pepa well before dawn again. A lovely walk for the first few k’s and then at Vilaserío we started a climb up and then some significant ups and downs predominantly down all the way into Negreira…
Our final day into Santiago and again quite a long day for us, 20.6 kilometers but lots of ups and downs, a lot more than expected. We had a couple of breaks along the way and then of course you get that wonderful view of the cathedral about two kilometers out from Santiago. Then after collecting our Compostela and having some lunch we hung around in the square a bit longer…
