Day 1 of our Camino, So, like quite a few people do, I think we decided to get the train to Tres Cantos. And then a very slow, easy walk from Tres Cantos to Colmenar Viejo. There were lots of stream crossings along the way which were interesting. Thankfully the water wasn’t too high…

So, after a very pleasant stay with Ray and Rosa at their little garden albergue, we set off today for Cercedilla.,The walk to Mataelpino was the first stage of 7 1/2 k’s, which was glorious. And then from Mataelpino, we headed towards Navacerrada. We had a little bit of a navigation challenge there…
So, this day is from Cercedilla to La Granja de San Ildefonso and this is the day we go over the mountain. So, we were somewhat nervous about today because for us, this would be the biggest challenge that we’ve faced yet on any Camino route…
So today was a rest day. We had stayed in La Granja de San Ildefonso, and we just took a bus into Segovia. It was a rather cool and damp day, so we’re taking a rest day, looking around Segovia…
So today we started out from Segovia, just a short day of 13 kilometers to Los Huertos. There was a lovely old church on the way up out of the hill, on the way out of Segovia, going up the hill. We stopped briefly in Zamarramala and we hoped to stop there briefly for a snack, but nothing was open…
We have a glorious day today. Very sunny, but nice and cool as well. So the walk from Los Huertos so far has been pretty good. We’re almost at Añe and the stay in the albergue last night worked out well. Even though it only had four beds and they were occupied when we got there…
