Camino Day 2 on the Via de la Plata (VdlP). A lovely walk in open countryside from Santiponce to Guillena that reminded me of the Meseta on the Camino Frances crossing the infamous Arroyo and rather a big lunch at the end of the day. I think most people walk from Seville to Guillena on the first day, but I wanted to ease into this Camino slowly.
Just 12 kms today, as I need to start out slow and steady due to ongoing knee and foot issues.
Much of the day was a long straight dirt road. Stretching into the distance. There was little shade. But I love this expansive landscapes and that huge sky. Other than a few local cyclists I only saw two other Pilgrims as I got close to Guillena. I stayed on the Hostal Frances in Guillena. Really just a bar with a few rooms above, but it was very comfortable with nice hosts.
And I managed to find a nice restaurant just down the road and ate far too much!
