So, today is somewhat of a rest day. We finished a rather long walk yesterday to Coca and made our way to Valladolid, and we stayed at the Hotel Mozart, which was very comfortable.
Today we leave at about two o’clock to get the train to Salamanca and we spent the morning looking around Valladolid. We popped out for a nice breakfast of course, and then the cathedral, some churches.

We walked around the Plaza Mayor, we just took in the sights. We also walked down to the river, where there’s a beach. I have to say it’s a really pleasant city.
And then at about two o’clock, we got our train to Salamanca, which kind of went without a hitch. Booking the train tickets on the RENFE app was really easy. A great train service. It was about a 30-minute delay and then on arriving in Salamanca we had about a 1.5 kilometer walk through Salamanca to get to our hotel – the Hostel Hospedium, which is just off the Plaza Mayor, which is an ideal location.

I kind of suspected that Pat would enjoy Salamanca for our rest day, as we had to cross the Plaza Mayor on the way to our little hotel and she thought the Plaza Mayor was amazing. Then we came back, we rested a bit and came back to the Plaza Mayor for an evening meal. And it’s just a wonderful place to sit and chill. Of course, she found the Viandas shop very close to the hostel where she loves to buy little sausages.

We had an evening meal in the Plaza Mayor and really very pleasant and quite exciting because at 10 o’clock the whole Plaza Mayor gets lit up. So, I think we both fell in love with Salamanca. I always loved it and really wanted to show Pat what a beautiful city it is.

She immediately loved it and we talked about maybe coming back and just staying there for a month. I can work remotely, and we could find an apartment and stay there for a month. I think we both really love Salamanca, so it was a great day.
