Times are Hard on the Camino and Winter is Coming

I had a great chat with Susi of Casa Susi yesterday. She’s living the Dream!

Having walked multiple Caminos, she bought an Albergue!

Well it was a barn with some rooms above it, but it’s been converted to an amazing Donativo Albergue.

I’ll post links to our video chats as they are published, but in the meantime do check out Casa Susi on Facebook.

And also, on a more general note……..

Thank You Ivar Rekve for your great work and support in highlighting the plight of many small Businesses along the Camino on your Forum.

I’ve spoken to a few Albergue owners recently and that support has been most welcome.
Some have had no income all season, whilst others were only open briefly, to be closed down again.
The smaller Donativo Albergues in particular, were faced with the additional expense of Covid Safety measures, and 50% occupancy, which for many was just not viable.

For those who can help, let’s not forget them through the Winter, and hope that they can open early next season.
