Day 5 of the VdlP. Just 13.6 kms today.  It is either that or 33!  And my feet can’t take that distance.  This is one of the challenges of the VdlP.  It’s a bit like a chess game where you have to think 2 or 3 moves ahead, so that you can work out your daily stages.

An amazing day walking through farms. It was one of those days on the VdlP where you have to take care to close all the farms gates behind you. I came across lots of different animals – goats, pigs, and some rather large guard dogs.   It really was a lovely day.  No humans in sight again.  Just wonderful landscapes and animals.

At the end of the day in El Real de la Jarra, I discovered an amazing new dish – Salmorejo.  It’s basically a think cold Tomato soup, but includes eggs and ham.  It was delicious.

I stayed at the Hostal La Encina.  I had selected it as it had a nice restaurant, but the restaurant was closed.   These things happen.  But it was very comfortable, though a bit on the edge of town in an industrial area.  So my walk to lunch was about 700 m, though my host came along and gave me a lift!

The next morning I walked back through the town and found a bar open for breakfast.  If I was to stay here again, I’d stay more centrally I think.
