The issue of cyclist/pedestrian mix on a common usage pathway is topical in many places. Here at home we’ve had a few nasty accidents which have required hospitalisation. A few years back in London a woman was killed by being hit by a cyclist, she suffered massive head injuries after falling to the ground. The main problem is that a pedestrian is often unaware of a cyclist approaching at speed from behind – it should be a legal requirement that cyclists use a bell or shout a warning.
It’s always a topic of debate amongst Camino pilgrims…. I guess you can’t restrict how pilgrims want to travel…
