I’ve walked both the Camino Francés and the Primitivo and really enjoyed them.
I’m now considering the Via de la Plata (VDP), but I have a concern about safety. My thinking is that northern Spain generally has less immigration and stronger protection for pilgrims compared to the south. Since you’ve walked the VDP, I’m wondering whether you had similar concerns or if your experience was different.
I really enjoyed your blog on the VDP — thank you for sharing it! Please don’t take my question the wrong way; I’m not trying to come across as racist. 🙂

I never felt uneasy on the VdlP Russell.
Most of the time you’re in quiet rural areas.
I think it was only coming into Merida through a high-density housing area it felt a bit different.
Not unsafe or anything.
