I have enjoyed watching a lot of your videos and have walked several Caminos one being the VLDP and looking forward to a hybrid next year, Madrid to Sahagun then from there along the Camino Frances to Ponferrada then the Camino de Invierno from Poferrada to Santiago.
What shoe did you come up with that you are currently using as I have walked with Merrell hiking boots for years but have found the last ones I bought inferior and made in Cambodia instead of Vietnam where the original factory was before being sold. Did the Hoka’s work out? They look exactly what I need.

Hi William. Footwear is a constant challenge. Mainly because the manufacturers keep changing and “improving” them!
I currently wear Hoka Stinson ATR 6. But of course, they are no longer made. They got “improved”.
The latest versions are a different fit, as well as different materials, I don’t like them.
Can’t recommend them.
I have three more pairs of ATR 6 in my own “stock” at home.
After that, I’m back to the start. Testing footwear to find something that works for me.
You just have to try lots of different brands and models to see what works for you.
For example, the Stinson ATR 6 was the only Hoka that worked for me out of the whole range. Now none of them do.
I’ve heard good things about Brooks Cascadia. But maybe they’ve been upgraded too.
I can only suggest, if you find something that works well for you. Buy extra pairs!
As a general comment.
I used to wear light weight boots.
Never again, since I discovered Trail Runners.
