So today was a short day, just 11 kms from Fisterra to Corcubion. So, we thought we’d have a lie-in and have a bit of a late start. I think we actually got up at about 8:00, had breakfast about 9, popped into a pharmacy to pick up some more painkillers for my back and then finally we were on our way at about 10:00. And we felt there was no rush, the forecast was for cooler weather and overcast. Hmm…the forecast wasn’t quite right. It got fairly warm, maybe up to about 20 degrees, but with a very hot sun. So, it was quite a struggle towards the end, even though it was quite a short distance as we went over the hill, the final 3k’s into Corcubion. But it was a beautiful walk.

We took our time along the beach from Fisterra, checking out shells and we got some nice scallop shells for our next Camino. We then met a couple of YouTube subscribers at the end of the beach, which was great and we had a chat with them. And then it was a slow walk along the coast, dropping into various bays along the way. There was a couple of steep sections and we thought we might catch up and have some lunch on the way to Corcubion because it became clear that we’d probably not make it there by lunchtime.

And also, my favourite restaurant in Corcubion is closed on Mondays. So, we thought a bird in the hand, if we can get a nice lunch on the way that’ll be far better. So, we looked at a couple of places in Sardiñeiro as we walked along, stopped for a drink only because I was hanging out to drop into a cafe that I saw last time where they grill fresh fish on the premises, freshly caught fish which was quite a good experience. So, I hoped to be able to show that to Pat and sure enough when we got to Estorde we found the cafe and they were grilling. They had sardines and scallops and all kinds of stuff. We had some sardines and salad for lunch and they had this enormous fish on the counter that they caught. It was some kind of eel but I would recommend.
It’s t 3k’s short of Corcubion if you’re walking towards Santiago and obviously 3k’s past Corcubion if you’re walking towards Fisterra but it’s a great place to drop in full of atmosphere. It’s right on the beach, you can walk down on the beach. They have some great food. It’s certainly a wonderful place to stop.

So, the last 3k’s, then were over the hill into Corcubion, which was fairly tiring given the heat. And we aim to stay at Hostal Mar Viva, which I had stayed at before. It’s a really nice place. They have a great bar and restaurant in-house, which is just as well because a lot of the restaurants in Corcubion are closed because it’s a Monday along with the shops.
So, we got a really nice evening meal at Mar Viva and picked up a couple of items for breakfast at the local butcher shop just over the road. The butcher shop was great because they have a range of groceries as well and recognising that the weather is fairly hot still at the moment, we plan to do some early starts again. So, we’ll be up at 5 and starting by 6. So, we had to buy a few breakfast and chorizos to take with us and tomorrow we start heading inland. We walk out of Corcubion, we go around through Cee, I think that’s how you pronounce it C double E and then we go up into the hills heading for O Logoso after that Santa Mariña and then Negreira and finally into Santiago. So just four days left to go.
