There are so many amazing places and experiences along the Camino Frances. But the Cruz de Ferro (The Iron Cross) is one of the most emotional places on the whole journey for me.
Pilgrims traditionally bring a small rock from their home, the represents a burden on their life. At the Cruz de Ferro, they leave their stone and ‘burden’ behind them.
I like to say this Pilgrim’s Prayer at the Cross as a drop of my stone.
‘Lord, may this stone, a symbol of my efforts on the pilgrimage that I lay at the foot of the cross, weigh the balance in favour of my good deeds someday when the deeds of my life are judged. Let it be so.’
