Again, lots of ups and downs and underestimated the distance again, unfortunately. So, we left Oseira pretty early. There was a steep climb out of Oseira to begin with, which really took it out of the legs, and then lots of up and downs. Then we got to El Castro. It was a little bit confusing coming out of San Martiño. There seemed to be two or three different ways to get to El Castro.

Pat didn’t really want to walk on the road, so we took a well-marked route that took us off the road, but probably added a carry, I think. So, we got into El Castro and found a bar open, but no food, and really felt like that we could have ended the day there at that point, because again, it was getting very hard.

But anyway, we continued on from El Castro because we still had to get to Botos. This was going to be our long day, at least for us. 23 k’s is a long day and there was lots and lots of up and down, up and down and eventually we got to Botos at about 6:30. We were staying at Hostal A Taberna de Vento. We got there to find that it was closed and one of the locals sitting outside rang the owner who eventually turned up in about 20 minutes and it turns out that the hostel is actually just down the road a little bit.

So, no food, nothing available. We had to have only that day, we only had food that we carried with us, so we had some noodles to cook up in the hostel. Thankfully, there was a microwave, but an extremely long day. Thankfully, we had a good night’s sleep, nice room, good shower and a good rest.

So that was quite a taxing day in terms of distance, tiring on the legs and the heat.

This turned out to be an 11-hour day so, it was fairly taxing.
