{"id":6886,"date":"2026-05-01T08:14:03","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T08:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2026\/?p=6886"},"modified":"2026-05-01T09:07:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T09:07:29","slug":"our-hybrid-camino-de-santiago-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2026\/our-hybrid-camino-de-santiago-for-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Hybrid Camino de Santiago for 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our 2026 Camino de Santiago will be a bit different in a number of ways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First<\/strong>.\u00a0 Pat is coming with me again!\u00a0 She&#8217;s walked the Frances with me twice before in 2016 and 2018 and so is a bit nervous about this one having ben &#8220;off the trail&#8221; for 8 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second<\/strong>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s going to be a Hybrid of three different routes.\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;ll explain why.<\/p>\n<p>As Pat has only walked the Camino Frances before, she&#8217;s keen to experience some &#8220;new&#8221; routes.\u00a0 And as my last, was the VdlP and Invierno, I&#8217;m keen to stick to routes that we haven&#8217;t walked before and also I quite like the less popular routes now.\u00a0 Though my <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/NQq_p0-5wyA\">four-route hybrid Camino<\/a> last time threw up some suprises.<\/p>\n<p>Another factor, is that we both like to collect <a href=\"https:\/\/oficinadelperegrino.com\/en\/pilgrimage\/the-compostela\/\">Compostelas<\/a> for relatives who have passed or who cannot make the journey.\u00a0 We can add their names to our Compostelas &#8220;Vicarie Pro&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0Which basically means walking on behalf of someone else.\u00a0 \u00a0 So we have planned to &#8220;walk into Santiago&#8221; twice to eanable us to each\u00a0get two more Compostelas.\u00a0\u00a0So hence, the Hybrid.\u00a0 \u00a0Which should end up something like this.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6893\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6893\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6893\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Hybrid-Camino-300x228.jpg\" alt=\"Hybrid Camino de Santiago\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6893\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our Hybrid Camino<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camino Madrid<\/strong>.\u00a0 Starting in Madrid we&#8217;ll take the train up to Tres Cantos and start walking from there.\u00a0 \u00a0Sadly to start on day one with a long day of pounding the pavement is likely to cause us feet issues.\u00a0 \u00a0We&#8217;ll walk for 7 to 8 days on the Camino Madrid.\u00a0 This will give Pat and I a chance to experience a less bust route through some amazing countryside.\u00a0 Though Pat is somewhat nervous about the climb out of Cercedilla!\u00a0 \u00a0But we&#8217;ll take our time and go slow.\u00a0 There is no rush.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6894\" style=\"width: 263px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6894\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6894\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Madrid-253x300.jpg\" alt=\"Camino de Madrid\" width=\"253\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6894\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Week on the Camino de Madrid<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Day Off<\/strong>.\u00a0 We might then take a day off in Valladolid or Salamanca or both.\u00a0 I know that Pat will love Salamanca.\u00a0 I did when I walked the VdlP.\u00a0 \u00a0So the Madrid route for us is not a true Camino, in the sense that we will walk to Santiago, but more of a warm up and a chance for a different experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camino Sanabres<\/strong>.\u00a0 Then we&#8217;ll head over to Ourense, to start walking to Santiago de Compostela.\u00a0 This will be a &#8220;Camino&#8221; in terms of qualifying distance and ending in Santiago.\u00a0 Some highlights of this route are likely to include staying at the Monastery Albergue in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gronze.com\/galicia\/ourense\/oseira\/albergue-peregrinos-monasterio-oseira\">Oseira.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a> I walked the last 2 days of this route last time when I walked the Camino Invierno.\u00a0 They merge two days from Santiago.\u00a0 So I look forward to entering Santiago from that direction again. It&#8217;s a lovely entry to the City.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6891\" style=\"width: 269px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6891\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6891\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Sanabres-259x300.jpg\" alt=\"Camino Sanabres\" width=\"259\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6891\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A week on the Camino Sanabres<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Camino Fisterra &#8211; Muxia (in reverse)<\/strong>.\u00a0 Then after an overnight break in Santiago, and to collect our Compostela, we&#8217;ll bus out to Muxia. From here we start walking back to Santiago via Fisterra.\u00a0 \u00a0In this way, as we are again walking &#8220;to&#8221; Santiago and over 100 kms, we can gain another Compostela each.\u00a0 \u00a0I walked this route last time, from Santiago to Fisterra to Muxia and loved it.\u00a0 \u00a0Particularly the fresh Seafood!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6892\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6892\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6892\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/muxia-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"Camino Muxia Fisterra\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-6892\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our Reverse Camino from Muxia<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So that&#8217;s our Hybrid Camino for 2026, and the reasoning behind it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll try to share daily Blog posts, photos and videos here, as well as a daily video on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@robscamino\">Robs Camino Youtube Channel<\/a>.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll be delayed a few days in editing and posting, but should be roughly daily.\u00a0 And as you might know, I do these for me more than you!\u00a0 \u00a0It&#8217;s like a diary that I can look back on years later and relive those wonderful Caminos&#8230;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>We can&#8217;t wait to get going.<\/p>\n<p>Rob and Pat.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our 2026 Camino de Santiago will be a bit different in a number of ways.
