{"id":792,"date":"2015-05-12T06:37:56","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T06:37:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/robscamino.com\/?p=792"},"modified":"2018-04-17T09:43:34","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T23:43:34","slug":"12th-of-may-time-for-a-break","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/12th-of-may-time-for-a-break\/","title":{"rendered":"12th of May &#8211; Walking to Burgos"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Time for a Break: Journey towards Burgos<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The walk all the way from <a href=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/10th-of-may\/\" target=\"_blank\">Belorado<\/a> yesterday was interesting and quite a challenge, but I think it&#8217;s taken a real toll on my feet (Achilles Tendons).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-796\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-12-08.10.21.jpg\" alt=\"2015-05-12 08.10.21\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-12-08.10.21.jpg 800w, https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-12-08.10.21-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Certainly my heels are much more painful today and the tendons quite sore.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-800\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-11-12.51.32.jpg\" alt=\"2015-05-11 12.51.32\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-11-12.51.32.jpg 800w, https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-11-12.51.32-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Talking to other pilgrims last night, they suggested <a href=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/13th-of-may-a-day-off-in-burgos\/\" target=\"_blank\">taking a day off in our next stop, which is Burgos.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most people who walk all the way from <a href=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/the-beginning-from-saint-jean\/\" target=\"_blank\">Saint Jean Pied de Port<\/a> to Santiago try to take a day off once a week or at least every 10 days.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking I might just walk short days rather than take days off, because I was worried I would get bored when I was not walking.<\/p>\n<p>But I think it makes sense to actually give my feet a full day off so that they can recover.<\/p>\n<p>The walk into <em><strong>Burgos<\/strong><\/em> should not be too onerous today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-802\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/20150512_085748.jpg\" alt=\"20150512_085748\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/20150512_085748.jpg 800w, https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/20150512_085748-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about 16-18 kilometers, I think.<\/p>\n<p>Although the last 8 or 9 kilometers are along roads, which are always a lot more painful on the feet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-804\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/20150512_090023-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"321\" height=\"571\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of my online forum friends told me this morning, that there is very good <em>tapas<\/em> to be found in <em><strong>Burgos<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-809\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-12-14.22.43-1.jpg\" alt=\"2015-05-12 14.22.43\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I really look forward to finding some of that tonight.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Giving Thanks &#8211; A Break in Burgos<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The journey into <em><strong>Burgos<\/strong><\/em> was fairly uneventful although a little bit painful.<\/p>\n<p>After my long walk of yesterday, I actually managed to develop my first blister.<\/p>\n<p>OK. \u00a0only a small one!
