{"id":537,"date":"2015-05-04T05:12:53","date_gmt":"2015-05-04T05:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/robscamino.com\/?p=537"},"modified":"2021-09-30T11:04:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T01:04:45","slug":"4th-of-may-contemplation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/4th-of-may-contemplation\/","title":{"rendered":"4th of May &#8211; Contemplation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>From Puente la Reina to Estella<\/h1>\n<p>Today is about <em>22 kilometer<\/em> stretch between<a href=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/4th-of-may-on-the-road-to-estella\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Puente la Reina and Estella.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1705\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Puente-la-Reina-bridge.jpg\" alt=\"Puente la Reina bridge\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Puente-la-Reina-bridge.jpg 800w, https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Puente-la-Reina-bridge-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a good day for walking, not too hot overcast and a light breeze.<\/p>\n<p>As always, I&#8217;m meeting some interesting people along the way, and always seeing faces that I recognize from earlier stages of the <em>Camino<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1706\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Puente-la-Reina-to-Estella.jpg\" alt=\"Walking from Puente la Reina to Estella\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Puente-la-Reina-to-Estella.jpg 800w, https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Puente-la-Reina-to-Estella-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For about an hour, I walked with <em>Antoinette from Holland<\/em>, she was struggling with foot problems and so was walking at my speed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ko3bZEGwy5w?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But today I feel a sense of urgency, I want to move ahead and get to my destination.<\/p>\n<p>So once I knew that<em> Antoinett<\/em>e was OK and other groups of pilgrims were following up behind, I gave her my apologies and moved on.<\/p>\n<p>Today I feel like walking alone again, a day of contemplation.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it&#8217;s the overcast weather, or the bad internet connection this morning that meant I couldn&#8217;t contact my wife Pat, today I seem a bit flat.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m beginning to wonder whether the<em> Camino<\/em> is really quite a selfish act.<\/p>\n<p>Is it really fair to take six weeks to walk and contemplate, whilst leaving others behind to do their day to day?<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully when I get to <strong>Estella<\/strong> this evening, I&#8217;ll be able to reestablish my internet contact and find out that all is well at home.<\/p>\n<p>People say that the <em>Camino<\/em> is about the journey not the destination, and I genuinely believe that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/the-spiritual-and-emotional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">But does one actually have to complete the <em>Camino<\/em>, to learn whatever lesson we are here to learn?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Have I learned my lesson after only a week, is it therefore time to return home, or to continue on this journey?
