{"id":1227,"date":"2015-06-04T07:30:57","date_gmt":"2015-06-04T07:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/robscamino.com\/?p=1227"},"modified":"2018-04-17T10:21:24","modified_gmt":"2018-04-17T00:21:24","slug":"4th-of-june-a-feeling-of-peace-from-melide-to-arzua","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/4th-of-june-a-feeling-of-peace-from-melide-to-arzua\/","title":{"rendered":"4th of June &#8211; A Feeling of Peace | From Melide to Arzua"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Only 53\u00a0Kilometers to Santiago<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I set out this morning from <strong><em>Melide<\/em><\/strong>, which is an intermediate stop on the final hundred kilometers of the <em>Camino<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Because of this, there are not too many pilgrims on the road and I largely have the trail to myself.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/walking-from-Melide-to-Arzua-1.jpg\" alt=\"Walking from Melide to Arzua\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There was a rather large group of pilgrims staying in my hostel whom I met at breakfast, but I think they&#8217;ll be starting a little bit later \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/I_vl1P2Y5xc?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I came across a wonderful old church this morning, and in what has become my ritual, went in for a moment of contemplation and thanks.<\/p>\n<p>I have an amazing sense of peace and calm this morning, even knowing that my journey is almost completed. It&#8217;s like the pieces are starting to come together at last.<\/p>\n<p>I find immense comfort from my daily church stops. Never in my life have I knelt so often, in so many churches, in contemplation and thanks.<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to this day, and whatever it may bring. I&#8217;m sure the <em>Camino<\/em> still has a few surprises in store for me.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>The Camino of Life<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I can remember back in <strong><em>Torres del Rio<\/em><\/strong> talking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=F6JDkgp_5wA\" target=\"_blank\">an interesting Danish guy Nils <\/a>about what the <em>Camino<\/em> meant, and the history of the <em>Camino<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>At the time I think we formed the view that people who wanted to walk the <em>Camino<\/em> would gain different things from it depending on what stage of their life they walked it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CpP1csWzrcc?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I think there are so many life lessons to be gained by walking the <em>Camino<\/em>, it would be difficult to determine at what point the most benefit could be gained.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Melide-to-Arzua-1.jpg\" alt=\"Melide to Arzua\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For me at least, this is a one-off experience, never to be repeated. As someone pointed out the other day, my views may change over time.<\/p>\n<p>The reason I see it as a one-off, is that I undertook this journey at a specific time of my life, to reassess my values, priorities and to understand what was really important to me. I&#8217;m not sure that purpose is necessarily one that should be repeated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/final-hundred-kilometers-to-Santiago-1.jpg\" alt=\"Final Hundred Kilometers to Santiago\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0of course the interesting thing about walking the <em>Camino<\/em>, and the many lessons that it teaches us about life and the world around us, is that really I think the <em>Camino<\/em> is just the training ground for life.<\/p>\n<p>The real work begins <a href=\"https:\/\/robscamino.com\/2015\/video-part-2-post-camino\/\" target=\"_blank\">post <em>Camino<\/em><\/a>, when we take these lessons forward into our lives and the lives of those around us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I set out this morning from Melide, which is an intermediate stop on the final hundred kilometers of the Camino.
