5th of June – One More Day to Go | Arzua to A Rúa

I set out this morning from Arzua at about 7:45 and the day is very overcast and damp. Forecast is for rain this afternoon. But hopefully, I can reach my destination Rua before the rain starts. The path is now really quite full with pilgrims as even more seem to have joined this section. I even had to step aside for a group of 20 Italian cyclists cheering as they sped down the hill behind us.

4th of June – A Feeling of Peace | From Melide to Arzua

I set out this morning from Melide, which is an intermediate stop on the final hundred kilometers of the Camino. Because of this, there are not too many pilgrims on the road and I largely have the trail to myself. There was a rather large group of pilgrims staying in my hostel whom I met at breakfast, but I think they’ll be starting a little bit later 🙂

3rd of June – 3 More Days to Go | Palas de Rei to Melide

I left this morning at 7:45 and the weather is starting to change. It’s quite overcast and very humid. So I expect we might get some light rain later in the day. Just as I was leaving Palas de Rei, I bumped into an old friend, Bob from the US. It’s always nice to see familiar faces along the journey. That’s why I tend to sit and have breakfast right on the Camino, to see who’s coming through.

2nd of June – Time no longer stands still | Ventas de Narón to Palas de Rei

It’s another sunny day as I’m on the road by 7:45. I’m walking through pine woods to the sound of the birds. But of course there are a few more pilgrims on the road these days. It’s funny how perceptions change in terms of time and distance during these final days. Up until this point, I didn’t really think too much about how long I have been walking, or how far I had walked.

I’m about 8 kilometers from Portomarin, so I only have another 4 or 5 kilometers to go today. The road has been very busy so far today, but as normal, I’m falling back through the groups of pilgrims until I don’t really see anyone else behind me. This generally means that I’ll have quite a peaceful journey from here.

30th of May – Leaving O Cebreiro

Rob The Traveller

I’m just walking along the ridge line from O Cebreiro to Triacastela. As always, walking at this time of the morning is very pleasant, the sun hasn’t risen yet so it’s not too hot, the air is quite cool, and all I can hear is the tweeting of the birds. I almost have the path to myself, because I think a lot of pilgrims left quite early.
