24th of June – Camino Revelations

OK, I said that I would share my Camino Revelations when I got to Santiago. I’m a bit late! But I’ve still been processing some things…. In a separate post later, I may share some of the more ‘Spiritual’ elements of my Camino. Not quite ‘burning bushes’ but it was close a few times! For now, I’ll talk about that whole issue of answers and questions. Early in my Camino I was searching for answers.

After 36 hours relaxing and contemplating in Santiago, I thought it was time to visit the ocean. I had planned to walk to Finisterre after Santiago, but unfortunately time has run away from me and now I have to resort to a bus. I couldn’t leave this journey without a visit to what is for many pilgrims, the traditional end of the journey.

6th of June – The Final Day | From Rua to Santiago

I’ve had a really peaceful day walking from Rua to Santiago. Right now I’m at Monte do Gozo (the hill of joy) and I can finally see Santiago below me. Just another 3 or 4 kilometers to go! I set out this morning from Arzua at about 7:45 and the day is very overcast and damp. Forecast is for rain this afternoon. But hopefully, I can reach my destination Rua before the rain starts. The path is now really quite full with pilgrims as even more seem to have joined this section. I even had to step aside for a group of 20 Italian cyclists cheering as they sped down the hill behind us.

I set out this morning from Melide, which is an intermediate stop on the final hundred kilometers of the Camino. Because of this, there are not too many pilgrims on the road and I largely have the trail to myself. There was a rather large group of pilgrims staying in my hostel whom I met at breakfast, but I think they’ll be starting a little bit later 🙂

3rd of June – 3 More Days to Go | Palas de Rei to Melide

I left this morning at 7:45 and the weather is starting to change. It’s quite overcast and very humid. So I expect we might get some light rain later in the day. Just as I was leaving Palas de Rei, I bumped into an old friend, Bob from the US. It’s always nice to see familiar faces along the journey. That’s why I tend to sit and have breakfast right on the Camino, to see who’s coming through.
